How do software updates work?

When there’s a new release of the plugin, the update will show in the WordPress dashboard just like any other plugins and you can update them just like any other plugins. You can also download the plugin zips by logging into My Account.

If you let your license expire, you will no longer have access to software updates.

Why a count of offloaded media?

Strange, right? Most WordPress plugins are limited to a certain number of sites, so why is this one using the number of offloaded media items? It turns out to be more fair…

Let’s say you have 3 small WordPress sites. The Bronze license would probably serve you well. While a big site like TechCrunch would need a much bigger license. That’s fair.

Now lets imagine licenses were limited by number of sites instead (like most other WordPress plugins): Bronze 1 site, Silver 2 sites, Gold 5 sites, etc. TechCrunch would only need a Bronze license while you would need Gold. Boo-urns.

What happens when I hit the offloaded media limit?

Before you hit your license limit we’ll add a notice (dismissible) to your WordPress dashboard and send you an email encouraging you to upgrade. If you do hit your limit, all essential features will continue to work, but a few non-essential features will be disabled until you upgrade your license.

Do resized images count toward my limit?

Nope. An image uploaded to / offloaded from your Media Library counts as 1 item toward your limit regardless of how many resized images are generated.

What are the minimum requirements?

  • Latest version of WordPress or the one previous
  • PHP 7.4+ compiled with the cURL extension
  • cURL 7.16.2+ compiled with OpenSSL and zlib
  • MySQL 5.0+
  • Apache 2+ or Nginx 1.4+ It will likely work with other web servers that support PHP & MySQL, but we do not officially support those.

What happens when my license expires?

Your license must be renewed 1 year after purchase, otherwise it expires and you will no longer have access to software updates or email support. All features of the plugin will continue to work even after your license has expired, so long as your total offloaded Media Library does not exceed your license limit.

What is priority email support?

Priority email support means that your request will be assigned the highest priority in our queue. In contrast, standard email support requests are assigned a lower priority.

If you let your license expire, you will no longer have access to email support.

How do renewals work?

You’ll receive software updates and support for 1 year after purchase. On the anniversary of your purchase, your subscription will automatically renew giving you another year of software updates and support. If you cancel your subscription and let your license expire, you will no longer have access to software updates or email support.

Do development and staging sites count toward my limit?

Development and staging sites are ignored and do not count towards the offloaded Media Library limit. For example, offloading media on awesomesite.com will count towards the limit, but using it on dev.awesomesite.com, awesomesite.dev, staging.awesomesite.com, etc., will not count toward your limit.

How do I free up some of my offloaded Media Library limit?

You can get a list of your currently active sites and deactivate them anytime from My Account. This will stop that site’s offloaded Media Library size from counting toward your license limit. You could also use WP Offload Media’s tools to remove some offloaded Media Library items from the bucket so they no longer count, or if not used anyway, simply remove the Media Library item entirely.

What's an "Integration"?

WP Offload Media is designed to work with other plugins that stick to WordPress’ API. Most plugins do, some don’t. For these plugins it’s necessary to add some additional code to get them to work with WP Offload Media. Check out our doc for more details.

How many sites can I use my license on?

As many as you like. For each site you activate your license on, we add the size of its offloaded Media Library to the total in use for your license.

How is my license usage calculated exactly?

We simply count the number of media items that you have uploaded to Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, or Google Cloud Storage and send that number to our server. The plugin does this for each site you have the license installed on. We can then add up the numbers to see if you’re approaching your license limit and notify you about it.

Will the plugin work on multisite with a Bronze or Silver license?

Yes, but you’ll need to upgrade to submit a support request concerning your multisite install.

Can I upgrade my license later?

Absolutely. In fact, it’s super easy. Just visit the Licenses tab in My Account (you may need to login), click the “Upgrade” button, choose your new license, confirm payment, and your license will be upgraded instantly.

Do you offer a discount for teachers?

If you are a teacher at a school and you agree to use your license only for classroom work, then you qualify for a complimentary license for 1 year. Simply use your school email address to email us:

  • A link to a page on your institution’s web site containing your name
